Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Using host response, Predigen has developed HR-PreV™, a test that offers pre-symptomatic detection of viral acute respiratory illness (ARI). Host response to viral ARI is identifiable 1-2 days before typical symptoms occur, allowing for earlier decisions regarding disposition of at-risk subjects undergoing screening. With a pre-symptomatic approach, infected patients can be identified earlier, and quarantined patients can be exonerated earlier.

Gene Expression Signature Trajectory Over Time

In this study utilizing H1N1 and H3N2 viruses, the magnitude of the Influenza Factor varies from inoculation through resolution of disease. The average factor score at each timepoint for both symptomatic (blue) and asymptomatic (red) individuals are shown.  The average time of symptom onset (gray dashed line) and maximal symptoms (black dashed line) are depicted.

The studies performed to develop this pan-viral test for early detection included subjects with coronavirus, the family of viruses that includes SARS-CoV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease. Importantly, COVID-19 is only one of many pandemics, past and future.  Predigen’s pre-symptomatic test for viral ARI will enable more robust responses to inevitable future pandemics.
